Switzerland is a place I have trouble writing about. Its a challenge to sum everything up in to a few paragraphs. It was a unique place filled with well traveled people. It went above my expectations due to the level of life in the region. Each corner so dense, not with population, but with fruitful vegetation. Breathing fresh air, swimming in completely clear water and frequently seeing a perfect landscape made it hard to have a bad time.
There is no “low quality” in the entire region. I kept wondering, where are the homeless people? Oh, there’s one… that girl wearing a clean bathrobe smiling at me from across the street. Maybe she can’t afford a Nespresso. The poor thing! It’s insane for a budget backpacker to go through because even a simple McDonald’s burger is about 10 bucks. If you go you will see everything is worth the silver and excellence is ensured.
If you’re familiar with lakes in America, you know to be careful around them. They aren’t always safe to swim in because of natural bacteria. The e.coli in Chicago’s Lake Michigan made me a little weary of jumping in. Not in Switzerland. I felt so free diving in to the lake in Lausanne and coming up to see the alps and vineyards lining the blue water. The alpine mountains in the Swiss region go on and on across the horizon with a soft mist and rich greenery trailing up to the top. The water throughout the region is drinkable, even in the lakes. Its never a problem finding a fountain with fresh H2O freely flowing.
We traveled long and far through the region. At a time we were 2000 ft up with only mountains and trees. So high that we could get a sunburn even though it was cold enough to wear a sweater. Clouds were almost close enough to touch. Transportation was our highest cost but we could always expect a scenic ride. True to their reputation, a watch can be set to the trains and the people punctually follow to the T.
The national park of a country left me with so many pictures. It was my pleasure to meet such well traveled and knowledgable people as sweet as the chocolate. Each person seems to have a story about travel, life and exploration. What the Swiss people accomplish motivates me to strive for the highest goal.
