How is the Trip?

Its been just over two months and this trip is off to a good start. Six countries down and seven ahead. Our mind has opened a little more to the world how and one can pass through it. There is no way I could wrap my experiences into a single post.  A lot has happened and the only person who knows every detail is Jo. We are happy we started this and even happier to have friends supporting it.

Jo and I have seen hard days but have improved as a pair each place we go. It motivates me further to work with her, not just as a friend, but an artist and travel partner.  While adapting to the lifestyles of each culture we have been lucky to constantly try new things.  Though the constant movement doesn’t leave much consistency, its a learning experience.  We’ve figured out a way to accomplish tasks in each location with the various limitations we have. We have an understanding to help each other and can equate on the same wavelength most times.

Climbing an innumerable amount of steps and squishing in to so many little elevators with our concentrated backpacks can only bring us to laugh.  We have shamelessly been filling the same water bottle with tap for the entire trip and saving dinner rolls for a snack later.  It really isn’t easy though envy comes from every corner. At times I may have to leave things I love or bear things I hate but one thing is for sure, the road ahead is worth every minute. I am learning endlessly.

This type of travel isn’t everyones cup of tea but it really works for us.  For those of you considering a similar trip, I’ve learned a few things along the way. For example, McDonalds has wifi, bathrooms, tap water and plastic silverware. The bakery has fresh baguettes, while the market has smoked salmon and tomatoes to complete a cheap sandwich. Most cities have free maps and fountains (sometimes better quality than bottled water). Lastly, Couchsurfing and Lonely Planet forums are amazing references for travel information. The people we have been the most important part of this journey.  It means a lot to us and keeps us going.  Grazie mille, miei amici :)
